The media environment in which today's teens have grown up and in which they interact presents new challenges. Information is constant and often chaotic, and can easily misdirect and misinform young adults who may not yet have gained important information and media literacy skills. The Teen Literacies Toolkit introduces teens to these important skills by focusing on critical reading and strategic searching to empower them in managing their online media environments.
The toolkit, which was created by the Young Adult Libraries Association (YALSA), includes activities, lesson plans, and resources that libraries and educational insitutions can utilize in their programming with teens to cultivate these skills. While the toolkit is primarily aimed at a teen audience, many of the skills and learning strategies could be adapted to use with adult learners as well. You can view the toolkit online or download the print version. |
